Overwhelmed or Underwhelmed?
There have been some great titles, but coming off Last of Us and Bioshock Infinite, its hard to be impressed with the new consoles; which might be unfair since we typically get the best triple A titles closer to a console’s swan song period. It is DEFINITELY premature writing off console gaming one year in, and it seems more and more studios are going multiplatform to maximize profit so while we might be longing for that Halo or Final Fantasy VII type title, it’s likely that it won’t come for now.
Sunset Overdrive and inFAMOUS Second Son are good indicators…even titles like Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes and Call of Duty Advanced Warfare - the systems have power and the developers are happy that the consoles utilize a typical PC-type architecture.
The upcoming titles might look bleak, but the signs are good - we are bound to get some great games soon.
